All students bring a unique personal background to the classroom and study team that can prove to be as enlightening to fellow classmates as their professional skills. Describe what, outside of work, most distinguishes you as an individual and will most enrich the experience of your peers at McCombs from your background, life experiences, values, or interests.

As a native of the Chinese mainland, I have experienced drastic changes both personally and professionally due to the opening of China to the rest of the world. With my university degree in finance and economics, I have had the opportunity to become personally involved with an inside view into the development of the Chinese business economy. I understand the reasons for some of the changes that have taken place both in the political and business environment. I know very well both the advantages and disadvantages of the Chinese economy, as well as its main problems. Because I have also worked in a state-owned company, I know very well how such a company operates and the unique problems that they face.

Because I have been dealing with the business of international trade for more than six years, I also know very well the entire process of conducting international trade, such as making inquiries and offers, how to successfully conclude a contract, how to establish letters of credit, how to arrange shipments of products, etc. Additionally, I understand the markets of Bangladesh and Myanmar very well because I managed our markets there and traveled frequently to these countries. For more than three years I worked as the representative of Poly Technologies to the Union of Myanmar. This foreign working experience has allowed me to gain inside knowledge of conducting international trade with a first-hand knowledge of the importance of customer satisfaction. During this period, I also became involved in the timber business, which later became the second largest business of our branch company in Myanmar. I conducted comprehensive research into the supply of timber in Myanmar and the demand for this timber in China. Through these experiences, I was very fortunate to be able to be exposed to other cultures that were quite often very different from my own culture. During my stays in Myanmar, I was able to visit many ancient cultural sites, which not only enriched my knowledge of international business, but also gave me insight into another interesting and colorful culture.

In classroom discussions and personal interactions, I can share all of this accumulated work experience and knowledge with my fellow students while also learning from them at the same time. I can also help the other students if they have problems with quantitative analysis or other mathematical subjects because I have always done well in my algebra, geometry and calculus courses. I am always willing to help my fellow students whenever possible because I derive great personal satisfaction from helping others. I received an extremely high score in mathematics on the National University College Entrance Exam. My class was selected to participate in a calculus study competition between all universities and colleges in Dalian, China. Although we didn't win the competition, it did allow me to gain additional training in the study of calculus, which also helped to sharpen my skills in quantitative analysis. I feel confident that I can share these skills with my fellow students and help to make some of the difficult concepts much easier for them to understand.

My unique work and life experiences as a native of the Chinese mainland will allow me to contribute the Asian perspective to our classroom discussions and case studies. The best way to learn is to not only listen to what my professors have to say but to also actively participate in class as well as develop friendships with my fellow students. I am looking forward to joining your elite program and becoming an integral part of the future success of the McCombs School of Business MBA program.
