　　中山大学是由中国国父孙中山先生于1924年一手创办的，是中国南方最著名的大学。xxx小姐在该校的法学院完成了其4年的本科学业。现在，她正以其优秀的学业表现来申请进入贵校攻读更高级的学位课程。为了全力支持她的申请，我很高兴为其撰写本推荐信，对其作出真实的描述，以期你能对其申请给予最认真的考虑。

　　作为法学博士与教授，我在过去几年中开设了法学院两门极重要的课程—国际私法和国际经济法。xx小姐是上过这二门课的数以百计的学生之一。我之所以对她留有深刻印象，只由于一件事—参加《国际私法》考试时她正发着40多度的高烧。虽然她欠佳的身体状况对其考试分数有所影响，但她仍成功地名列全班前8名，而她对学习的投入比其他任何事情都令我印象深刻。事实上，她是在其学业表现上展示了丰富潜能的不多几个学生之一，这一点可从她在全年级120学生中在《国际经济法》（亦涵盖国际税法）的期末考试中获得最高分得以证明。我相信，她在我课上的表现同样也代表着她在其它所有课程上的表现，因此，总其总体学业表现而言，她得以名列全班前十名并连续三年获奖学金，也就不足为奇了。

　　xx小姐也绝不是一个死读书的人，她在课外活动中也取得了值得称赞的结果。由于她出色的学业能力，她被选为二个学生之一，由我系推荐前往深圳南山区检察院（全国评比最佳检察院）进行为期4个月的实习。在帮助地方检察官准备案例的过程中，她不仅仅有机会运用其扎实的学业知识，而且也获取了实际的法律经验。在该检察院在范小姐实习期满反馈给我系的评价中，xx小姐的专业素养及潜力尤其得到了赞赏。

　　xx小姐在目前的申请中拥有一种独特的优势，即她的英语能力。由于认识到法律从业者培养国际视野的重要性，范小姐主动辅修了英语学位。其英语能力将成为一重要的因素，使她有别于大多数其他中国学生。正如她最近所告诉我的那样，自她开始在华普永道公司税务　与法律服务部开始工作以来，她每天坚持阅读香港出版的全英文《南洋晨报》，以不断提高其英文水平，力争能成为一个以英语为母语的人那样。

　　由于意识到中国加入WTO将会十分需要通晓关税协议，非关税贸易壁垒和国际贸易方面的专业人土，xx小姐决心进入贵校攻读法律方面的高级学位。通过这样做，她将一方面为中国法制的完善作出贡献，另一方面为其卓有成效的个人发展打下一个良好的基础。有鉴以此，她享有我全部的支持和推荐。

Dear Sir or Madam,

Founded by China’s national father Sun Yat-set in 1924, Zhongshan University is the most renowned university in South China. Ms xx completed her 4-year undergraduate program at the Law School of this university and with distinguished academic performance, she is now applying for admission into your esteemed university for a more advanced degree program. To strongly support her application, I deem it a pleasure to write this letter of reference to give an authentic account of her, with the hope that you can most seriously consider her application.

As Ph.D. and professor of jurisprudence, I have been delivering over the past few years two important courses in the Law School, Private International Law and International Economic Law, and Ms. xx was one of the several hundred students who have attended those two courses. I have a deep impression of her because of one thing—when she sat in the final exam of the Private International Law, she was suffering from a high fever of 40°C. Though her poor physical condition somehow affected her score, she still managed to rank in the top 15% and her commitment to her studies impressed me more than anything else. As a matter of fact, she has been one of the students who have demonstrated rich potential in her academic performance, which can be testified to by the highest score among a total of 120 students that she obtained in the final exam of International Economic Law (also covering International Taxation Law). I believe that her performance in my classes could also typify her performance in all the other classes and there was no wonder that, in terms of her overall academic performance, she succeeded in staying among the top ten of her class, receiving scholarships for three consecutive years from 1998 to 2000.

By no means a bookworm, Ms. xx also achieved commendable results in extracurricular activities. On account of her distinguished academic aptitudes, she was chosen as one of two students who were recommended by our department to do their 4-month internship at the Shenzhen Nanshan District Procuratorate, the best in the national competition.In helping local prosecutors prepare legal cases, she not only had a chance to apply her solid academic knowledge but also acquired practical legal experience and in the evaluation the Procuratorate submitted to our department at the end of her internship, her professional qualities and potentials were particularly lauded.

Ms. xx has a unique advantage in her present application, that is, her English proficiency. Realizing the importance of developing international perspective for a legal practitioner, Ms. Fan had the initiative to minor in English. Her language competence will be an important factor that differentiates her from most of other average Chinese students. As she informed me recently, she has been reading South China Morning Post (published in HK in English) ever since she started working at the Tax and Legal Service Department of Pricewaterhouse Coopers to keep improving her English until she becomes a “native“ English speaker.

Realizing that China’s entry into WTO would demand professionals with specialized knowledge in tariff agreements, non-tariff trade barriers and international trade, Ms. xx is determined to seek an advanced degree in law at your esteemed university. In doing so, she will contribute to the perfection of China’s legal system one hand one and lay a good foundation for her fruitful personal development on the other.
