申请人获得了某一大学金融硕士的录取，还获得了一定的奖学金，但由于也获得了排名更高的学校的录取，因此，即使给该校缴纳了录取定金，也最终忍痛割爱。这里，涉及到了I-20表。以前有人说，如果申请人决定放弃某校的录取，则应该把已经收到的用于签证的I-20表寄回对方学校。但现在看来，申请人只需自行处理即可，不必寄回，对自己的签证不会有什么不利的影响。

给录取官员的去函（拒信）：

        首先自报姓名和申请号，方便录取官员找到自己。随后说明自己收到了录取并预交了定金，也收到了关于申请签证和入学的所有纸质材料；但是由于情况有变，不能按时入学了，于是想把机会留给其他优秀的同学。

        询问对方是否需要归还学校开具的F-1签证相关的证明材料，如果需要归还，应该归还给谁。

        感谢对方审阅自己的材料、提供录取。表达歉意并祝对方录取到其他优秀学生。

对方来函：

        感谢申请人及时告知无法入学的信息，并告知申请人可直接销毁签证相关材料，不必退还。

My name is Cheng Ting and my University ID is xxxxx. I received your offer of acceptance into the MS Finance program some time ago and I have paid my tuition deposit. In addition, I have received all the paper-based documents regarding visa Application and enrollment procedures. However, due to changed circumstances, I am afraid that I won’t be able to attend you program and I want you to give the vacant place to some other promising students.

By the way, I want to know whether it is necessary for me to return you the copy of Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status-For Academic and Language Students by the U.S. Department of Justice. If yes, please let me know to whom I should address.

Thank you for all your efforts to review my application and offer me acceptance. I am sorry about my new decision and I hope that you will have some other outstanding students attending the program.
