is Deng x x . I am the legal representative and the chairman
of the board of directors of the XiangYuan Group Company
of Hunan Province. I write this letter in order to support
the application of Mr. X x x, my son, in his application
for a two-year English language training program at the
Sprott-Shaw Community College and then for an undergraduate
education in one of the well-established Canadian universities.
I can assure you that Mr. X x x has a very strong and genuine
motivation in his application for such educations in Canada.
This motivation is closely related to the XiangYuan Group
Company, of which I am the chairman of the board of directors.
The
full name of the company is XiangYuan Fuel Trade Company
Ltd. of Hunan Province. It is a sole-proprietary company
established in 1996 and over the past few years, the company
has achieved rapid and large-scale development. The Group
Company has 8 subsidiary trade companies, with a total value
of fixed assets of 200 million RMB and the annual sales
income is 300 million RMB. The company pays a total of 30
million RMB taxes to the state every year. Up till now,
the company has purchased six formerly state-owned key coal
mines in Hunan Province, with the coordination of the provincial
and municipal governments. With the business expansion of
our company, we have re-employed more than 8000 employees
whom have been laid off by those former state-owned coal
mines. By now, it has become the largest coal production
and trade enterprise and one of the ten largest private
enterprises in Hunan Province. Apart from making significant
contribution to the local economic development, our company
has contributed considerably to the local social stability
by re-employing a large number of laid-off workers.
It is
a pity that I only received an elementary school education
and because of this I realize how important education is
in modern society. I believe that if I had received a formal
and proper education, I could have managed my enterprise
much better. Under such circumstances, I have decided to
let my son X x x not only receive a proper and formal education
but also receive an international education. In this way,
he can develop an international vision.
Undoubtedly,
after Mr. X x x completes his education in Canada, he will
come back to China and be a part of our company. Therefore,
it is apparent that he had a very clear purpose in pursuing
education in Canada. He has a well-defined goal. That is,
he will apply his knowledge to the business management of
our company. Obviously, to manage such a large enterprise,
he must have extensive knowledge of business, finance, management,
marketing, human resource management, etc., all of which
are essential for modern business. It is impossible for
me to acquire specialized trainings in those fields myself,
so I hope that my son would be able to do what I have failed.
Another
important reason why I support Mr. X x x to pursue an education
abroad is that this experience will teach him how to be
independent. If he is to take up important responsibilities
of managing the enterprise in the future, he must experience
all kinds of hardships. In undertaking his education in
Canada, he will learn how to get along very well with his
Canadian teachers and other students, how to live in a new
environment, and how to survive. He will learn a lot about
life and come to have a close knowledge of the Canadian
society. He will know that only through making hard efforts
will he succeed in his studies and in his future life. In
a word, he must acquire all kinds of useful experiences
before he can be assigned to important responsibilities.
Chinese
parents pay great attention to the education of their children.
You must understand how eager I am to let my son receive
the best education that I can give him, and to make him
undergo all kinds of character-forming experiences. With
his education in Canada, Mr. X x x will be able to interact
with the entire world, instead of being confined to a narrow
range of experience if he stays in China. I believe that
only Canada can give him the kind of education that he needs.
