Dear Sir or Madam,
As the class advisor and teacher in the course
of Chinese to Mr. Wang Yaohua, I have a better
understanding of him with our constant contact
and communication. Upon learning that Mr. Wang
has made up his mind to pursue advanced studies
abroad and to comply with his earnest request,
I consider it my duty and a great pleasure to
write this letter of recommendation in support
of his application for admission to such a prestigious
university as Yale. I firmly believe that Wang
will make himself a worthy candidate with his
excellent scholastic performance, outstanding
capabilities and resourceful potentials.
Wang possesses a sincere and distinctive character
and enjoys higher popularity among his classmates.
After open election, I appointed him as committee
member in the Youth League Organization of his
class, mainly in charge of the organizational
and operational work of class activities. Conscientious
and hard-working, Mr. Wang cooperated well with
other committee members and achieved fruitful
results, which displayed his keen sense of teamwork
and great leadership. In my course of Chinese,
he compiled an outstanding grade with a general
GPA of 3.5, which was hard to come by because
this was a joint examination taken by the four
elite high schools in the whole nation including
ours. Thus this grade was really satisfactory
due to the unusual difficulty in the examination
as compared with those ordinary tests.
According to my observation of Mr. Wang's daily
life and study, I feel pleased to see Wang has
a more profound understanding of the meaning of
life and the society than his peers. He does not,
like most students, consider the College Entrance
Examination as the sole objective of leaning,
even though it is probably the most important
examination for Chinese high school students under
the present educational system in China. Yet Wang
still holds on to his belief that he should make
himself a qualified student with all-round development,
and aims at cultivating himself to be a useful
person with special contributions to the society.
All his ideas were well presented in class activities,
with novel perspective and comments on the appreciation
of literary works and discussion of some social
problems. Wang never felt afraid that his own
viewpoints might have great differences with the
mainstream opinion. And he could always propose
his own way of thinking and reasoning process
in a meticulous manner. This innovative spirit
is really a commendable and praiseworthy quality
in a high school student like Wang.
Our school is one of the first-rate high schools
in China and has a fine fundamental education,
which enables her to annually send dozens of excellent
Chinese students to the most celebrated universities
in the United States. It is my firm conviction
that with his fine learning aptitude and a solid
groundwork, Mr. Wang will turn out to be an outstanding
match for his American counterparts whether he
be evaluated from the depth or width of knowledge
acquisition. Moreover, the fine academic atmosphere
and favorable environment for individual development
offered by the College of Liberal Arts in your
prestigious University will be extremely conducive
to the growth and overall development of Mr. Wang
Yaohua. His latent potentials will also be able
to gain further exploration, and Wang can eventually
find the right direction of his future development
that best suits him.
Based on the above-mentioned fine qualities demonstrated
by Wang in his high school studies at China, I
recommend him most enthusiastically, and I believe
you will share my evaluation of Mr. Wang and consider
his application favorably.
Yours cordially,
