ESSAY 5： Describe the course of study and the unique characteristic of Penn that most interest you。Why do these interests make you a good match for you? （500 words）

Firstly, Wharton is one of the best business schools worldwide in terms of teachers, academic achievements and atmosphere, which are things most longed for by all students. Taking my own conditions into consideration, I am confident to choose a first-class university like Wharton. Moreover, there are more Chinese and East Asian students in Wharton than in any other prestigious universities in America. For those who study business, it is a wealth that will be of great use in their future work.

Secondly, I have applied for the course of my intense interest, the Huntsman Program, (a program of America's first university,) offered by the College at Penn---the provider of the first modern liberal arts curriculum---and Wharton School---the first business school. I am exhilarated because I will enjoy the best conditions in my study of international business and at the same time have an all-round development.

What attracts me so much about the Huntsman Program is that I can practice for one year in the country of my targeted language. It means that if I am accepted, I can study in two different countries. It is very challenging, and I believe that I will learn more than those who take their mother tongue as the targeted language.

I also have the experience of a colorful campus life in high school and the rich knowledge obtained in my communications with foreign friends. The opinions and social customs of those people with disparate cultural backgrounds have taught me many things unknown to students of my own age, expanding my vision and activating my thoughts. This improvement has qualified me to study at your university.

As organizer of my class and enthusiastic participant in after-class activities, I have been part of some international communication activities with countries like Japan. I like lively atmosphere, in which I can display all my potentials. As a result, in my applying to American universities, I choose not only the famous one with high-quality education but also the internationalized one with interesting campus and community, for I will benefit more in this kind of university. The university that suits me best is the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League School with more foreign students than any other one in Philadelphia.

Lastly, I was born in ShenYan, a large city in the northeast part of China (which ranks the 24th in the world's cities according to Webster's New World Dictionary 1999 edition), with a population of 7.2 million. This ancient and modern city was once the capital of the Qin Dynasty (there is still a royal palace in the city). To a large extent, its position in China is the same as Philadelphia's in America. That accounts for the feelings I harbored for the University of Pennsylvania when I was making the choice.
