In order to write this letter of reference, I have checked carefully Miss G.J.'s academic records. I am happy to discover that she has performed quite well in most courses. Compared with her classmates, her academic performance can be ranked as among top 5% in a class comprising a total of 53 students. Over the past three years, Miss G. has received a very comprehensive education and the courses she has taken include Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Chinese, English, History, Fine Art, Music, Physical Education, Biology, Geography, Politics, Photography, Calligraphy, Computer, etc. Miss G. tends to arrive at school earlier than her classmates so that she will have sufficient time to get well prepared for her classes. She participates actively in classroom discussions and would consult her teachers whenever she has problems that she does not quite understand. She is very conscientious in completing her assignments, and she also likes to learn from and help her classmates. In terms of her English, she has laid a firm foundation in terms of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Miss G is the student in her class who is responsible for registering classroom attendance. That is, she is a student official. She has helped her teachers organize some class activities. She once received awards for her photography and in sports she has won a number of prizes at the district- and the school-level sports events, in items such as shot-putting and long jump. She also plays basketball well and practices martial art. In terms of her personality, Miss G. is honest, kind-hearted. She likes to help the elderly people in the neighborhood and she also donated cash and clothes to people in the poverty-stricken areas and in the flooded areas. I believe that her loving heart will turn her into a responsible citizen in the future.

Miss G. is a girl with a strong sense of environmental protection. We know that Beijing is a city whose environment has been deteriorating in the past decade. But Beijing is to host the 2008 Olympic Games and in order to improve Beijing's environmental conditions, Miss G. has taken part in a series of activities organized by our school to plant tree in the suburban areas. She and her classmates recycled used batteries. In her own community, as I have learned, she helped clean the streets and collect the plastic bags loitered about by some environmentally insensitive people.

Though it is a great regret that Miss G. Jing's transfer to your school will cause us to lose one excellent student, nevertheless, we feel comforted in the fact that at your school she will be able to be exposed to a totally new culture and an exciting new environment. She will acquire new experiences and will make new friends. She will receive an even more exciting education and develop different and perhaps more effective learning strategies.
